Tourism places Tian Tan Buddha, is the Big Buddha, is a large bronze statue of Shakyamuni Buddha, completed in 1993, and located at Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The statue is located in the Po Lin Monastery and symbolizes the harmonious relationship between man and nature, people, and faith. It was a major center of Buddhism in Hong Kong and is also a popular tourist attraction. This statue is named Tian Tan Buddha because of its base model of the altar of heaven or earthly Mount of Tian Tan, the Temple of Heaven in Beijing.

Tian Tan Buddha was built starting in 1990 and was completed on 29 December 1993, which takes into account the Chinese as Buddha enlightenment day. When the sculpture is completed, monks from all over the world are invited to the opening ceremony. Prominent visitors from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, and the United States all took part in the process.
